Sedimentation Basin Design Made Easy with

Version 1.0.1

SEDBASIN Version 1.0.1 analyses sedimentation of suspended sediment in a sedimentation basin.  The software also calculates design storm runoff from urban catchments using the methods described in Australian Rainfall and Runoff, 2001.

  • Fully Interactive
  • 32 bit Application, compatible with MS Windows 2000 and later

  • Design Runoff from Urban Catchments using the Rational Method
  • Based on Australian Rainfall and Runoff, 2002
  • Settling Velocity of Sediment Particles using Laminar, Transitional and Turbulent flow theory
  • Calculation of Sedimenation Efficiency
  • Calculation of the Minimum diameter of Sediment Captured

Program Features

  • Fully interactive using the Microsoft Windows Graphical User Interface.
  • Fully interactive on-line help.
  • Calculate design runoff from urban catchments using the methods described in Book 8 of Australian Rainfall & Runoff, 2001.
  • Calculate design runoff allowing for partial area effects.
  • Use design rainfall intensities, derived using the methods described in Book 2 of Australian Rainfall & Runoff, 2001
  • Access a data file of locations within Australia at which the required design parameters have been estimated from Volume 2 of Australian Rainfall & Runoff, 1987.
  • Up-date data file with new locations from within the program.
  • View a map of the locations saved in the data file.
  • Calculate settling velocity of sediment particles using theory based on laminar (Stoke's Law), transitional and turbulent flow around spherical particles.
  • Calculate the sediment capture efficiency of a sedimentation basin.
  • Calculate the minimum particle size captured within a sedimentation basin.
  • Allows adjustment of sediment and water properties.
  • Graphical adjustment of sediment particle size distribution.
