Continuous Simulation of Runoff from Urban Stormwater Systems with UrbSim Version 1.0
UrbSim Version 1.0 simulates the rainfall and runoff processes from an urban catchment. The model can also simulate flow through ponds or basins located within the catchment. UrbSim Version 1.0 models the rainfall and runoff processes in an urban catchment to predict the continuous record of runoff at the outlet to a catchment. The simulation model uses a discretised time series record of rainfall and potential evapotranspiration (PET). The simulation is undertaken at discrete time steps, whose size is defined by the user. The length of the simulation period must also be defined before the simulation is undertaken. The generation of runoff from a Sub Catchment node is modelled using two separate processes. The first process is the generation of daily rainfall excess based on the rainfall and PET applied to the Sub Catchment area. The second process modelled is the conversion of this rainfall excess into runoff and the routing of this runoff to the Sub Catchment outlet.
